One of the first questions to answer when building a VR project is “What device am I building for?”
I have an Oculus Rift so I’d like to build and test on that. However, I’d love to reach more eyeballs by making it mobile-friendly too (accessibility goal!)...which means it would also have to work as a window into a virtual world, like Spotlight Stories (so sad they shut down).
The Oculus Quest seems to be selling like gangbusters so I should plan to optimize for that as well - but if it’ll work on a phone it should work on the Quest. For now, I’ll aim for the Rift and Quest, while making sure to keep geometry resolution goals for mobile. We'll discuss optimizations in a later post.
