ABOUT DAVE WEATHERLY
Currently serving as Senior Cinematic Animator at Epic Games.
My passion is creating engaging characters and the stories they inhabit. VR creates the opportunity for connection with characters like no other medium has before.
My career spans 20 years as an Animation Director, Supervisor, Writer, Technical Animator, and Character Technical Director. I've worked at at Epic Games, Dreamworks Animation, Disney, Industrial Light & Magic, and Magnopus. I have animated on Fortnite trailers, Croods 2, How to Train Your Dragon 3, Trolls World Tour, Kung Fu Panda 2, Star Wars Episode 2, Harry Potter 2, and many other films. During 2013-2017 I worked in pre-production developing characters for animated films at Dreamworks. Over the past ten years I have written a novel, a TV Pilot screenplay, and six Interactive VR short film screenplays. In recent years I have used my spare time to write, design, and build multiple Interactive VR prototypes using Unreal Engine for NBC Universal and Dreamworks franchises, as well as multiple Unity personal projects. I earned an undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering from Virginia Tech and spent my early career as a Software Engineer at NYMA Inc, a NASA contractor.
